A debut event is coming to the community of Perry on Sunday in response to the unforeseen circumstances that’s happened this year.
The St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Perry announces that they will be hosting the “St. Pat’s Summer Fest” this Sunday, beginning at noon. St. Patrick’s Catholic Church Business Manager Mike Wilson comments that the idea behind the program was a response to the Tyson Foods Pork Plant shutting down in Perry at the end of June as well as the tragic shooting that occurred at Perry High School on January 4th.
“We just thought that we really needed to have a community and parish wide event. It’s intended to be an event that brings our community together.”
The church is working alongside the Knights of Columbus, Regina Guild, and the Hispanic community to put this program together. The Summer Fest includes live music, kids games, face painting, bounce houses, a potluck, hog roast, and more. Wilson notes that the program doesn’t have a set end time, but reveals that he estimates the event will start clearing out about 5pm.
