The National Weather Service points out that severe weather could hit the state of Iowa today.

Meteorologist Roger Vachalek tells Raccoon Valley Radio that Central Iowa is on track to potentially see some thunderstorms tonight. He explains that the storms can bring hail and stronger winds with a possible chance of a tornado. Vachalek emphasizes not to ignore the hot temperatures, and take breaks when needed.

“If you are going to be outside or you have to be outside, make sure that you’re staying hydrated. And if you feel at all sick, or funny from the heat, immediately seek some indoor comfort and get out of the sun, especially, and get out of hot temperatures.”

Vachalek suggests that thunderstorms are projected to be in Central Iowa this afternoon into the evening. Temperatures this weekend predict highs in the upper 80s and lows in the mid-60s to low 70s.
