Since it opened last year, the Walk-In Clinic at Greene County Medical Center continues to see success.

CEO Chad Butterfield says the goal of the Walk-In Clinic was to allow individuals who were not feeling well an opportunity to be seen that day and not have to travel to another facility outside of the county to get to a provider. He describes some examples of the stories he has heard from people who have used the service.

“The positive feedback is great. The stories, the anecdotes will vary from, ‘I took my child in before school and 20 minutes later I’m in the car heading for home,’ or ‘I spent the day not feeling well, decided to stop on the way home from work and I’ve been able to be diagnosed and got my prescription filled before I even had dinner.”

Butterfield points out that the Walk-In Clinic is staffed by the providers and nurses from the Family Medicine Clinic and all of them have been on board helping to make it as successful as it has been.

“The way that we process it, or the way that we handle it, is that each of those providers and their associated nurse, they take a day, they take a rotation where they cover a day in the walk-in. At this point we haven’t hired providers and/or nurses just for the Walk-In Clinic.”

Butterfield adds that the Walk-In Clinic continues to see an average of 26-28 people per day. The hours are 7am-5pm Monday through Friday and while discussions are ongoing about expanding the hours or adding weekends, Butterfield says logistics have been the issues that have yet to be solved.
