An organization recently honored the longtime principal of Perry High School on Friday.

The National Memorial to Fallen Educators held a ceremony on Friday to recognize Perry High School Principal Dan Marburger. Executive Director of the National Teachers Hall of Fame Maddie Fennell tells Raccoon Valley Radio that the National Memorial to Fallen Educators was started in 2012 following the tragic shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary in Connecticut. Perry Superintendent Clark Wicks calls Marburger a great friend.

“Dan (Marburger) was such a tremendous guy, giving so much to the Perry Schools and the community for 24 years. He was a great friend, and very dedicated and passionate educator, and it was a privilege to work with him.”

Marburger’s name has been added to approximately 200 other educators that have passed away. The organization claims that there are currently three tablets full of names, with funds helping to create a fourth one which will feature Marburger’s name along the top.
