Discussions are underway in relation to the next steps with the Perry School’s administrative funds following the January 4th shooting.

Administrator of the funds Lou Hoger, who serves as the Perry Food Pantry Manager, tells Raccoon Valley Radio that the funds were split two ways. He illustrates that one portion specifically is helping the family of Ahmir Jolliff, who was a sixth grade student that passed away from the tragedy, and the second portion is going to victims that were harmed during the shooting.

Hoger emphasizes that by law, Perry Schools was set to appoint an administrator for the funds and outlines that he had a conversation with Perry Superintendent Clark Wicks. Hoger clarifies that the deadline to submit an application for the funds is July 15th and is unsure at this time as to exactly when the funds will be allocated, but reveals it could be soon.

“We can’t say at this point how quickly the funds would be administered, but we would hope that shortly during the last week or two during July, those funds would be distributed.”

Hoger believes that due to his life experience and trust within the Perry community, he humbly accepted the responsibility to disperse the funds appropriately. To submit an application, Hoger notes to send a request to P.O. Box 54 in Perry, IA and include your contact information.
