A house in northern Greene County was destroyed by a fire Tuesday morning.
Greene County Sheriff and Jefferson Fire Chief Jack Williams says at 8:28am, Paton, Grand Junction, Churdan and Jefferson Fire Departments responded to the home at 1530 110th Street. Williams tells Raccoon Valley Radio when crews were on scene, the house was fully engulfed in flames.
Williams notes after the fire was extinguished, the home was a total loss, but crews were able to save the fire from spreading to a nearby garage and above ground propane tank. However, Williams says two dogs perished in the fire and no humans were hurt. He adds the cause is undetermined in the accidental fire.
Greene County Ambulance and the Greene County Sheriff’s Office assisted at the scene. According to the Greene County Assessor’s Office, the home belonged to Cory and Courtni Witt.
