The Jefferson Garden Club has announced its next Yard of the Month.
Katie and Guy Richardson’s home at 608 South Chestnut Street is July’s honoree. In the front part of the lot are large beds of roses, miniature boxwoods, day lilies and hostas that were planted over 15 years ago. There are also corner pillars that have geraniums, and shrubs surround the front porch of the home that was built in 1912.
The covered outside deck features a colorful garden with a variety of hostas and daylilies near the north foundation of the home. Several hummingbirds visit the trumpet vines in the backyard trellis, with a water feature of a yellow ceramic bird bath and matching yellow Asiatic lilies.
Katie was the owner of Fudge’s Flowers and Gifts from 1990 to 2017, which is apparent with the landscaping decorations and the variety of plants and flowers used throughout the property.
According to the Jefferson Garden Club, their mission is to highlight and promote beauty in the community.
