The public has an opportunity to help give the youth that participate in the Greene County Fair an extra boost of recognition.
Greene County Fair Board Vice President Katlynn Mechaelsen says Friends of the Fair at Home State Bank is collecting public donations that will be given to the 4-H’ers at the conclusion of the county fair during the Junior Premium Auction.
“So what this does is that everybody and anybody who wants to puts whatever money they want to contribute into a pot. The pot is then distributed to all exhibitors, no matter if they took a bunny, a picture, or a horse, they all get the same amount. And then that check is written out of that pot of money and split up equally.”
Mechaelsen points out that this is another way that people can show support to the Greene County youth that have worked hard to prepare and show their exhibits at the county fair. According to Home State Bank, they surpassed their goal last year and are looking to raise at least $7,500 this year so that each youth receives at least $39 of additional money at the Junior Premium Auction that is held on Monday, July 15th. Donations can be made at Home State Bank.
