The Greene County Fair is this week and the Greene County Historical Society is hosting another series of its “History Chats.”

According to the Historical Society, the free program begins on Friday at 1pm with Bill Frederick and James Holz covering, “Cover Crops: What’s old is new again.” They are the owners of Iowa Cover Crop and will discuss how the practice of using cover crops to add nutrients to farm soils has seen a resurgence over the past few years.

The other “History Chat” will take place on Saturday at 11am with Tom Wind of the Cooper area as he covers, “What is it about? Iowa and wind power, by a windy guy.” Wind will go over the history of wind power and its benefits, as well as the future of the alternative energy source.

These programs will be held in the Historical Society Building on the Greene County Fairgrounds.
