The Adel-DeSoto-Minburn Softball team won their 10th consecutive game on Monday after defeating an unfamiliar opponent.
The Tigers battled the Cardinals of Clarinda Monday in a non-conference game, but also a team that ADM has not seen before. The two teams met for the first time in Adel as the Tigers won by a score of 3-1. ADM led 1-0 after the first inning, and that score would remain until the Tigers added runs in both the fifth and sixth innings. Clarinda, who averages more than nine runs a game, did get on the scoreboard in the seventh to break the drought.
ADM’s Aniston Tollari played a phenomenal game, as she finished 3-3 with singles and scored one run. Cameran Smith went 1-4 but did score one after singling in the fifth inning. The other Tiger run was scored from Lauryn Troster, who courtesy ran for Kinzie Maxwell, who finished the game 1-2 with a double. For the Cardinals, it was Andi Woods who captured the one run as she didn’t have an official hit, being walked all three at-bats.
Losing pitcher was Clarinda’s Mallory Woods, who pitched six innings, allowed eight hits, three runs, and struck out three batters. ADM’s Cameran Smith started the game and finished with four innings pitched, allowed one hit, walked two batters, and had seven strikeouts. Lauren Hagedorn went three innings pitched, allowed one hit, one run, walked two batters, and five strikeouts.
The Tigers are now 26-8 overall and have two more games to conclude the regular season as they will be back in Adel tonight taking on Southeast Polk at 7pm.
