Greene County avoided being no-hit on Monday night in Jefferson vs. Winterset, but a four run third inning carried the Huskies to a 4-0 non-conference baseball victory. The Huskies improved to 14-13 while the Rams fell to 2-18.

Both teams used three pitchers with junior Crew Conner taking the loss for the Rams. He started and went the first three innings with two innings for sophomore Teagan Chisholm and the final two by junior Noah Hinote. The Rams made five errors and five of the Huskies seven hits came in the third.

Junior Isaac Carman broke up the no-hitter with a hard hit single to left field to begin the bottom of the seventh. Carman also walked and was hit by a pitch. Hinote also walked and that was it for Greene County base runners.

The Rams are home again tonight vs. non-conference opponent Humboldt with the JV teams playing at 5:15 p.m. and the varsity game starting around 7:30 p.m.  Greene County ends the regular season tonight, then is off until facing top ranked North Polk in Alleman at 7 p.m. Friday to open Class 3A Substate play.
