Dallas Center – Grimes baseball and softball will both be competing in their respective state tournaments this upcoming week, as the Mustangs will be looking to put together a memorable end to both of their seasons.
Boys baseball will be the 2 seed in the 4A state tournament where they will take on Dowling Catholic in Cedar Rapids on Tuesday at 5 pm. DCG is 35-3 on the season while Dowling Catholic is 23-15. This game is a rematch of the 2023 4A quarterfinals where Dowling Catholic was able to win 4-3, and the Mustangs will be looking to get a little bit of revenge in the matchup.
The two seed Mustangs will be taking on Carlisle in the 4A quarterfinals in Fort Dodge with a start time of 2:30. In a matchup of state powers, Carlisle was able to win the first game between the two teams earlier this month. Historically this is a back and forth series between the two programs, so the Mustangs will have to be dialed in throughout.
You can listen to the games on the new 943, 997, and AM 1310 KDLS, raccoonvalleyradio.com, and the KDLS app. Pregame coverage will begin ten minutes before very game.
