Tomorrow is a free program with the Jefferson Public Library as they host their next Author Talk Series.

Library Director Jane Millard says Jeff Bremer recently published “A New History of Iowa” as the Iowa State University American History Professor goes through chronicle events of Iowa’s history. She points out that this is an up to date look at the state’s history with various impactful events that happened and the people that Bremer talked to.

Millard talks about a variety of ways of how she finds out about different authors to bring in for their Author Talk Series.

“One of my favorite ways is when an author will walk into the library and say, ‘I’ve just written a book, would you like it to have a copy for the collection here in Jefferson?’ And I say, ‘Absolutely!’ Most often times those are Iowans. It’s easier to write a book and get it published these days, and so more people are doing that. And if they happen to come through with their book at our library and they are from Iowa, I try to not just accept their book into the collection but say, ‘Hey, would you like to come and do an Author Talk for us and do a book signing?’ And then people can get to know these authors.”

Millard notes that she also gets a wide range of phone calls from different people and especially those authors that have an Iowa or Greene County connection. Tomorrow’s Author Talk Series with Bremer and his book, “A New History of Iowa” begins at 2pm at the Greene County Historical Museum and is co-sponsored by the Greene County Historical Society.
