Dallas Center – Grimes softball played in their class 4A quarterfinal game on Monday afternoon against the pesky Carlisle Wildcats, and after giving five runs in the first inning, DCG was not able to find enough in their comeback losing by the score of 8-6. Carlisle moves to 35-8 on the year while DCG falls to 32-9.
Carlisle was able to send 10 to the plate in the first inning putting up five runs. DCG was able to put up two runs in the 1st and 2nd innings, cutting the lead to 1. Carlisle put up three runs in the 4th, putting up enough distance from the Mustangs and finding the victory in the process. Macee Reiling had a big day at the plate with a home run and double with 3 RBIs. Aubrey Johansen had a two run RBI double as well as the Mustangs.
DCG was able to put together a nice rally in the 7th inning, but couldn’t get anyone across the plate as their hopes for a comeback were stunted.
The Mustangs will be taking on conference foe Norwalk in the consolation bracket with the game to be the last of the season for both teams. The game will be happening in Fort Dodge with a first pitch of 12:15. You can listen to the game on the new 943, 997, and AM 1310 KDLS, streaming on the KDLS app, and raccoonvalleyradio.com.
