The Raccoon Valley Radio area saw an increase in unemployment last month.

According to Iowa Workforce Development, there was a 0.3 percent increase in unemployment from May to June for Dallas County from 2.4 percent to 2.7 percent, as well as Greene County from 2.3 percent to 2.6 percent. Guthrie County reported a slight increase from May to June of 0.1 percent to 2.6 percent in June. Two of three counties are ahead of where they were at this point last year.

In June of 2023, Greene County was at 3.1 percent unemployment and Guthrie County had three percent unemployment. However, Dallas County was at 2.3 percent unemployment in June of 2023.

Statewide, the unemployment rate remained the same last month, with a 2.8 percent unemployment rate. This is the third consecutive month Iowa has had a 2.8 percent unemployment rate. The national unemployment rate for June was 4.1 percent.
