Two Greene County 4-H’ers performed well at a recent livestock competition, with one advancing to a statewide show.
Eight Greene County 4-H’ers qualified from the county fair in eight livestock divisions and then competed against seven other counties at the Heartland Throwdown this past Saturday at the Story County Fairgrounds main show ring. According to the Heartland Throwdown organization, Emmalin Wright was named Grand Champion Breeding Ewe and has advanced to the All Iowa Showdown. Avril Shahan was named Champion Market Lamb Showman, which is a non-qualifier for the All Iowa Showdown.

Greene County ISU Extension 4-H and Youth Coordinator Samantha Hardaway says the All Iowa Showdown brings the best of the best in the state together with winners from all of the other regional shows. The All Iowa Showdown is Sunday, August 4th in Oskaloosa.
