The Jefferson City Council recently approved two ongoing street projects for this year.
At their July 23rd meeting, the Council approved seal-coating the alleyways and deadends in the northeastern portion of the city, excluding Adams Street for $33,392 with Black Top Services. Public Works Director Dave Morlan says by using a seal-coat on the alleyways and deadends, it prolongs the lifespan of the roadway material.
“Any of the alleys in town that are starting to get broke up, the freeze/thaw is hard on the seal-coat roads. So anything that is getting tore up a little bit this spring, they’ll have that done too.”
The Council also approved a $45,000 bid from Danco to crack seal as many roads in the southwestern portion of the city as the funds allow. City Administrator Scott Peterson adds that the contractor will also crack seal areas around the water plant.
“There’s some concrete accesses and parking areas up there at the water plant that need to be attended to.”
Each year the city rotates different portions of town that get seal-coats to the alleyways and deadends and crack sealing of the streets.
