The City of Adel is encouraging residents to head indoors after reporting a gas leak.

At approximately 5pm on Tuesday, the city put out a notice for residents to seek shelter following the leak that happened on Southbridge Drive and Roebling Road. MidAmerican Energy Company Media Relations Manager Geoff Greenwood tells Raccoon Valley Radio that the leak started after a contractor in Adel accidentally knocked into a small two-inch gas line within a residential area. 

Greenwood elaborates that the gas leak doesn’t affect any customers and that MidAmerican Energy did not call for an evacuation. He anticipates the gas leak to be fixed no later than 6:30pm tonight.
