Greene County 2023 graduate McKinley Robbins was at home at rural Scranton for a few days last week before returning to Oregon State University where he’s a member of the wrestling team.

Robbins was a two-time Iowa high school State Champion for the Rams and is the only wrestler from here to make the State finals all four years of high school. He took a knee ligament practicing last September and surgery followed. Robbins talked with Raccoon Valley Radio now that he’s been cleared to get back on the mat. “According to the numbers with all the tests I’ve done and all that, my legs are actually stronger than they were before, my upper body is stronger than it was before. Physically, it hasn’t done much other than keeping me off the mat and keeping me from hundreds of hours of practicing technique and drilling that technique. Mentally is probably the hard part because I’ve never had an injury more than a broken finger.”

He’s hoping the get into the lineup for the Beavers for the 2024-25 season at 149 lbs.
