Aiden Deal is taking a static exhibit and Share the Fun to state fair

A second-year Greene County 4-H’er is taking two projects to the Iowa State Fair.

Aiden Deal is with the Hardin Happy Hustlers 4-H Club and has one static exhibit and a Share the Fun activity. His static exhibit is a barn quilt made from his grandmother’s barn board, which is a star pattern with the colors red, gray and black. Deal is also performing two piano songs as part of his Share the Fun qualifier for the state fair. He talks about what he is looking forward to the most at the state fair.

“Probably playing piano. It’s probably one of the first major piano playing things that I’ve done.”

Greene County ISU Extension 4-H and Youth Coordinator Samantha Hardaway says Deal is one of 30 static exhibits that qualified from the Greene County Fair for this year’s state fair. Additionally, Hardaway points out there are three communication projects and two fashion exhibits that will be on display at the state fair as well.

“So Savannah Lansman and Paisley Allen will be taking their fashion entries to the Iowa State Fair. And that’s a really cool, immersive all day experience where they get to meet with experts in the industry and just learn a ton about wardrobe, and clothing and stuff. So that’s always a really cool experience when we have kids go and compete there.”

Hardaway is proud of all the 4-H’ers who qualified for the Iowa State Fair in static and fashion exhibits, as well as the communication projects.
