This is a celebratory week for farmer’s markets around the world, including in the community of Perry.

National Farmer’s Market Week is August 4th-10th to recognize the importance of farmer’s markets. Perry Chamber Director Lynsi Pasutti tells Raccoon Valley Radio that she loves the growth of Perry’s Farmer’s Market over the six years she’s been in the area.

“To really see how appreciated it is by the vendors, the shoppers, the merchants, the visitors coming through. It’s really exciting to see all of that and it really comes together in a way that showcases a lot of the good work that we do at the chamber.”

Pasutti is thankful for the help that Iowa PBS has been doing at Perry’s Farmer’s Market, and how that’s led to more families attending.

“Kids are getting really excited to go shopping themselves. They’re not just getting dragged around, but they’re actually the ones dragging the parents to go to vendor to vendor to pick out produce.”

The next farmer’s market in Perry will be coming up tomorrow in the downtown area of 2nd Street from 4-7pm.
