High scoring soccer player Gesser Gutierres, a recent Greene County High School graduate, will soon be taking his talents to Wartburg College in Waverly. Gutierres scored 108 career goals in his Greene County career, with more than 90 of those in the last two seasons. Gesser led the state in goals scored in 2023 and he led in goals scored per match played in 2024. He played on a pair of State Tournament teams and helped the Rams to winning seasons all four years of high school.

Gutierres told Raccoon Valley Radio he’s looking forward to playing in college, and he’s aware of the challenges that await while moving from a Class 2A high school program to the NCAA Division III level.
