A junior on the Adel-DeSoto-Minburn Girls Cross Country Team is ready to rebound from previous injuries in hopes of having a great season.

Haley James mentions that she started track during seventh grade, developing a liking for it, which prompted her to want to try out cross country. James notes that her summer training is progressing well by doing things step by step to prevent injuries. Speaking of, she is taking precautions to make sure history doesn’t repeat itself.

“Last year I was actually out because of injury, so my goal this year is to stay healthy and be able to run with the team the whole season.”

James goes on to say that Head Coach Steve Brown does a nice job of pushing all the girls to reach their full potential. The course that sticks out for James is Fort Dodge’s.

“It’s our state meet and then we also just do a meet there, and it’s my favorite course by far. It’s perfect. It’s not too hilly, the grass is always perfect. They have a nice course there.”

James calls 2024 a “Redemption Year” for ADM Girls Cross Country as many girls were dealing with injuries last year. The first meet for the Tigers is August 31st at Johnston High School.
