Ruth’s Pie and Wine Bar in Stuart is still in the middle of repairs, but received some good news after some bad news.

Owners Sheila and David Stone say that after a structural engineer inspected the walls and said that they’d need to be redone, they heard back on a grant they applied for. Sheila mentions that they had some help to apply for the $100,000 grant.

“That’s huge for us, being able to put the money into it. And there’s a lot of people that have helped us. We recently got a grant, Region XII (Council of Governments) helped us with the grant writing, and the city of Stuart. So it’s actually awarded through the city of Stuart through the Iowa Economic Development Authority, so that’s going to be huge in helping us complete this project.”

Sheila explains that the grant will be used to help cover the unexpected costs that will come from the repair work to the walls.
