The number of high school football players in the shared program between Greene County and Paton-Churdan has been falling in recent seasons. That trend appears to be continuing as just under 40 freshman through seniors were at Tuesday morning’s practice. The Rams haven’t been able to field three teams, freshman, JV, and varsity, for a while, and head coach Caden Duncan told Raccoon Valley Radio there are six games on the schedule below the varsity level for 2024 to go with the eight regular season varsity games.

The low numbers don’t mean there isn’t talent on the team, but typically, the depth isn’t what it would be with more players.

The Rams scrimmage at Ogden on Aug. 23, the open the regular season at home in Jefferson at Linduska Field on Friday, Aug. 30 vs. the Carroll High Tigers at 7 p.m. All Greene County football games will be broadcast on KG98 and streamed on www.raccoonvalleyradio.com.
