A Grand Junction woman was recently sentenced to probation from a January incident in Polk County.

According to court documents, 23-year-old Madilyn Van Pelt pled guilty to an amended charge of a Class D Felony for serious injury by vehicle by reckless driving. She received a deferred judgment and was placed on probation for five years with the Iowa Department of Correctional Services and will do 40 hours of community service that is required to be done within one year. She additionally pled guilty to a serious misdemeanor for her first OWI and had all but 48 hours of a one year jail sentence suspended.

Van Pelt was ordered to pay over $1,250 in fines, surcharges, court costs and victim restitution would be decided at a later date.
