A local school district was one of 25 that recently received a grant from the Iowa Department of Education.

These grants are meant to help districts connect students facing homelessness with the resources needed for them to attend school. A total of $424,400 was awarded to the school districts, with $30,000 coming to Nodaway Valley in the form of a Transportation Grant. This can be used to help with the cost of transportation for those students facing homelessness to get them to and from school safely. Those funds can be used for public or private transportation services, gas cards and in certain cases, vehicle purchases.
