A reminder that later today is free entertainment in Spring Lake Park.

The Community Players of Greene County are performing several radio programs from the 1930s-1950s in the 2nd Annual Radio Hour at the main shelter house in Spring Lake Park starting at 5pm. Director Josh Tuel says this show is a staple that will always happen in August and something that the public can expect every year.

The program includes “The Bickerson’s,” “Little Orphan Annie,” “The Lottery,” “Who’s On First,” and “Fibber McGee and Molly.” The cast includes over 20 people, which Tuel notes is the largest non-musical show the Community Players have done in quite some time. Tuel points out that free will donations will be accepted as he talks about giving nothing, a little or a lot all helps their organization in the end.

“It’s about doing theater for people (and) interacting with people. The money is what we need to stay alive but just having the opportunity to perform in front of people is worth every penny.”

Tuel adds there are also sponsorship opportunities that include mentions in each of the six upcoming productions next year. Tuel encourages all attendees to bring their own seating, food and beverages and enjoy the reader theater-style performance.
