A weekend single vehicle crash resulted in a fatality in Greene County.

According to the Iowa State Patrol, at 10:06 on Saturday a 2017 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 was heading east on 130th Street and driven by 31-year-old Kyle Shank of Paton, was trying to pass another vehicle at a high rate of speed. The State Patrol reports the vehicle went off the shoulder, entered the north ditch, struck a field drive, went airborne and rolled several times front to back, and eventually came to a rest in a corn field.

The crash report shows Shank was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash and was ejected from the vehicle and landed east of the vehicle. He was pronounced dead at the scene. A passenger, 30-year-old Sydney Shank was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash and was taken by air ambulance to Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines with injuries.
