It’s the first full week of school at Greene County and this also marks the first week of Fall sports that will count on the season records. Teams have had scrimmages and practices, but now it counts.

Coach Chris Heisterkamp’s volleyball Rams are up first with a Tuesday five team event hosted by Dallas Center-Grimes at the high school west of Grimes. The Mustangs host the Ram, Valley of West Des Moines, Ballard (Huxley), and Mason City.

Thursday the cross-country teams under the direction of Coach Jeff Lamoureux begin their seasons at a coed meet in Gowrie hosted by Southeast Valley.

The football season opener is Friday at 7 p.m. with Carroll High visiting Coach Caden Duncan’s Greene County Rams at Linduska Field in Jefferson. All Ram football games will be broadcast on KG98 and streamed on www.raccoonvalleyradio.com. Football Friday Night coverage begins at 6 p.m.
