The Guthrie Center City Council met in regular session Monday night.

The Council approved a liquor license for IncrediBowl, then heard from Kelly Bast, who was attending on behalf of Cathy Morrell who owns the property at 100 North 12th Street, as she was unable to attend herself. Bast shared that he had been discussing with Morrell on the need to have the garage on her property cleaned up, mentioning that at this time her financial situation limits her ability to take the garage down. Bast and her are also currently working on cleaning pottery molds from her late husband’s business, and they are still sorting through the items.

The Council thanked Bast for his time, and approved to have the City attorney prepare a letter to send to Morrell, requiring the garage be emptied by January 1, 2025, and the garage be removed from the property by May 1, 2025. Should either deadline not be met, the City will step in to abate the nuisance within 30 days of the missed deadline.
