Greene County residents are asked to help with a fundraiser for less fortunate kids.

Sherry Graven with Greene County Adopt A Family is seeking donations of underwear and socks for about 200 youth in the county. She says they are looking for size four in toddlers to adults for underwear and socks. Graven notes that Adopt A Family is doing their fundraiser to coincide with Greene County New Opportunities Warm Hearts Clothing Drive that is also underway. 

Graven points out the underwear and socks are two items that teachers have said that kids are in need of during the school year. She also wants to help because these items are getting more expensive that less fortunate and struggling families are finding it difficult to afford them. 

The deadline for donations is September 30th and can be made to the Greene County Engineer’s Office in the Greene County Courthouse Monday through Friday from 8am-4:30pm. She adds that monetary donations are also accepted, either at the Engineer’s Office or at the Greene County Adopt A Family P.O. Box 364 in Jefferson, IA 50129.
