A non-profit, animal care organization in Greene County recently announced another way that people can make donations to their cause.
People for Animal Welfare Society (PAWS) Board President Ann Wenthold says their organization has a can redemption collection site on the Bomgaars parking lot in Jefferson. She tells Raccoon Valley Radio PAWS has been working on this for a couple of years. They partnered with Nikki Rasmussen, who is the owner of Nikki’s Nickel Redemption along North Elm Street. Wenthold points out Rasmussen asked about a permanent location for a can redemption donation for PAWS and they pulled the trigger after the new animal shelter was completed.
Wenthold encourages everyone to drop off their pop soda cans and plastic soda bottles at their collection site and 100 percent of those items will go to PAWS for their ongoing expenses of veterinary bills for the animals at the shelter, purchasing cat food, monthly preventives and other day-to-day care items for the animals.
