With school threat messages spreading countrywide, the Perry Police Department is reassuring the community that safety is the top priority.

The department recently shared a social media post from the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office in New York about a three-step plan of a countrywide school shooting threat. The Perry Police Department put out a statement that although no immediate threats have been made towards the Perry community, they are closely monitoring any suspicious activity within the school district.

Perry Police Chief Eric Vaughn tells Raccoon Valley Radio that it’s been frustrating because messages continue to circulate, and it’s hard to determine which ones are credible. He wants to remind residents and students to report any unusual behavior or concerns to their department in a timely manner. The Perry Police Department can be reached at (515)-465-4636.
