As National Breast Cancer Awareness Month continues, it’s important to support those that may be facing the disease.
Guthrie County Hospital Medical Imaging Manager Sarah Madsen says that a support system is vital for patients, and shares with Raccoon Valley Radio why that is.
“Having your family and your friends are very important to help with your emotional side of breast cancer. They are there to help by listening, talking to them, and helping (with) their fears and anxieties.”
Madsen mentions that the most important way members of a patient’s support system can help them is to just be there and present for them. She adds that depending on the severity of the cancer, some patients may need increasing amounts of support, such as helping them get around and doing physical tasks.
