Perry’s Summer Farmer’s Market had a good turnout for the season, as the total number of vendors have been accounted for.
According to Perry Chamber Director Lynsi Pasutti, approximately 32 vendors made an appearance at the farmer’s market throughout the season, with another 30 special guests for themed events. She explains that the farmer’s market administered food pantry vouchers for the past three years, with the total amount continuing to climb.
“In 2022, we redeemed $2,670. In 2023, we had $3,670, and then this year, $4,435, so a really big thank you to the food pantry for making that possible.”
Pasutti credits Iowa’s Public Broadcasting Service (PBS) Kids program that gave kids vouchers once a month, admitting that it brought more families to the market. Not only that, but Pasutti expresses that those vouchers acquired $4,624 for the 2024 season. She invites residents out to the McCreary Community Center, 1800 Pattee Street, in Perry as the chamber kicks-off its Fall Farmer’s Market next Saturday, October 12th from 10am-2pm.
