Today the Greene County High School cross-country teams go more than 110 miles southwest to Red Oak for State Qualifying competition. Tomorrow, Greene County sends its football team even farther, more than 120 miles to Clarinda to begin the Class 2A playoffs.
Coach Caden Duncan’s Rams won its last two games of the regular season in down-to-the-wire finishes over Southeast Valley (Gowrie) and Des Moines Christian to finish in third place in District 8 with a 3-2 record. Overall, the Rams are 4-4. The host Cardinals went 4-1 in District 7 with their only District loss to Van Meter, a perennial football power. Overall, Clarinda is 6-2 with their other loss to Class 1A Treynor.
