A non-profit organization in Greene County will have its annual community fundraiser soon.
Greene County Pheasants Forever President Kevin Devilbliss says they are hosting the 37th Annual Banquet and Auction on Friday, November 1st at Clover Hall on the Greene County Fairgrounds in Jefferson. The doors will open at 5:30pm and the meal that will be served by Lidderdale Country Store starts at 7pm, and the live auction will follow.
Devilbliss explains that Pheasants Forever is a habitat-centered organization that a majority of their proceeds goes towards providing seed for food plots around the county to continue to improve the pheasant population. He points out they also help with youth programs and their national organization, but he describes what they are wanting to do in the near future.
“We’re working towards having what we call a Wildlife Biologist in this area that will cover four counties. What he will do is he will actually go out and work with farmers to help them sign up for federal programs and put habitat in. We currently don’t have one in our area, but they’re working on bringing one to this area and it’ll be a combination of us, Pheasants Forever National and some other people will be involved to fund his salary.”
Tickets are $55 for an annual membership and the meal, $75 for a couple and $15 for youth that are younger than 16. Raffle tickets are either $50 or $100 that includes several general raffle tickets, Sportsman raffle tickets and either two or four firearms, respectively. Devilbliss encourages anyone who wants to attend but has not purchased a ticket to do so by October 30th. Contact Devilbliss at 515-386-3762 to purchase tickets.
