The Perry Vocal Music Department was involved in performing at a few colleges around the state of Iowa in early October.

Perry Choir Director Jenn Hillman shares that the music department participated in Simpson College’s Honor Choir on October 3rd, Wartburg College’s RitterSing Festival on October 5th, and Central College’s Singfest on October 8th. She’s glad students were able to learn the process of performing at the next level.

“That was a really cool experience once again with the students being able to be on a college campus and hear collegiate ensembles and musicians, and also work with students from other schools and then present an evening concert.”

Hillman expresses that there are approximately 155 students in choir for 2024-25 school year between sixth and 12th grades. She reveals that the Perry Vocal Music Department is gearing up for the fall play on November 8th and 9th, the Veterans Day program on November 11th, the high school choir concert on December 9th, plus All-State Auditions this Saturday at Atlantic High School, 1201 East 14th Street, in Atlantic, IA. Hillman shares that 10 students will audition for choir and three will audition for band, with Senior Olivia Christensen being selected to the All-State Orchestra in 2023.
