This weekend there will be an outdoor event at Springbrook State Park for everyone to enjoy.

Iowa Department of Natural Resources Interpretive Naturalist and Educator Anne Riordan says that she will be conducting a fall colors hike, and that those in Guthrie County and the surrounding areas are invited to participate. She tells Raccoon Valley Radio that on the hike, they’ll be checking out the new colors on the trees, along with other fall changes.

“We’re going to meet in the camp gazebo, and kind of depending upon who shows up and where people wanna go, or maybe someplace you haven’t been before in the park, we will take off and we’ll explore.”

Riordan mentions that they’ll also be on the lookout for other signs of the season changing, including animal behavior and habits, along with other signs from plant life besides leaves changing colors. The hike is tomorrow, and will be from 1-3pm.
