It was do or die last night for the Dallas Center-Grimes Mustangs football team as they hosted the #5 Lewis Central Titans hoping to knock off the Titans to advance to the post season. The first quarter would be a battle between both teams, with the Titans settling for a field goal bringing the score to 3-0, however, the Mustangs would give up a safety after a huge fumble recovery giving Lewis Central a 5-0 lead. Things would begin to get out of hand for the Mustangs in the second quarter, as Lewis Central would score 24 points. The Mustangs would not give up hope however, and would put up their own touchdown in the second quarter and complete the two point conversion. Lewis Central would take back the momentum after this however, and put one more touchdown on the board to bring the score to 29-8 at halftime.
The second half would consist of Lewis Central’s offense maintaining possession. With the score at 29-8, the Titans offense would stay on the field for 7 minutes before scoring, then it would be Lewis Central putting on a clinic offensively as they would score of total of 20 points in the third quarter. The Titans would wrap up the game with a final score of 49-9.
Dallas Center-Grimes wrap up their season at 2-7, and 2-2 in conference play. Mustang football can resume action again come June.
