The Adel-DeSoto-Minburn Football team started the Class 4A Playoffs on the right foot, with a win over Spencer on Friday.

The ADM Tigers defeated the Spencer Tigers 43-13, thanks to a dominate second half. ADM’s Junior Quarterback Hudson Shull ran in for a nine-yard score on the opening drive of the game, to take an early 7-0 lead in the first quarter. Spencer punted late in the first quarter, but ADM Senior Corbin Reed couldn’t handle it, resulting in a Spencer recovery at ADM’s nine yard line. Senior QB Cael Bruning capitalized with an 11-yard touchdown pass to Senior Wide Receiver Jack Berends to tie the game at 7-7 early in the second.

ADM would respond with a 25-yard run from Shull to put the Tigers back on top 14-7, but Spencer’s combination of Bruning and Berends worked again for another TD, but a missed extra point from Senior Kicker Brady Vreeman kept ADM in the lead 14-13 at the halftime break. The second half was all ADM as they outscored Spencer 29-0 including two more Shull touchdowns, a Talon Harvey 86-yard pick six and a Keaton Kier 12-yard TD to hit the final score of 43-13. ADM’s Shull finished with four completions for 70 yards and 146 yards rushing for three touchdowns. Spencer’s Bruning tallied three completions for 38 yards, two touchdowns and an interception.

ADM improves to 8-2 on the season as they wait to see who they play next. Spencer’s season ends at 6-4.
