The AC/GC Chargers once again head into the quarterfinal round of the postseason with a 10-0 record.

The Chargers started the game against the Mount Ayr Raiders with a slight slip, as the Raiders were allowed to punch in a touchdown on the first play of the game, but were held back on the resultant two point conversion. AC/GC took over from there, marching down the field and eating away the time to go up 7-6 before the end of the first, then getting a stop on downs on the following Raiders offensive to start off on their own 3 yard line.

The Chargers proceeded to march down the field once again to score, before getting another stop to turn around and score once more, going up 21-6. Kicker Oliver Wetzel gave an onside kick, which came off one of the Raiders linemen, and bounced right back to him to get the final drive of the half going. Coming back from the halftime break, AC/GC received the ball to start the second half.

The half started off big with a quick score, putting the Chargers up 28-6, before another onside kick was recovered, which resulted in another scoring drive. On the following defensive session, senior lineman Jonathan Martinez had a play which earned him the Crafty’s Coffee Player of the Game on the defensive front. After a big hit by fellow senior Brexton Schnieder, the ball was fumbled, and Martinez was able to scoop and score, putting the team up 41-6 after the PAT by Wetzel was blocked.

That was the score for much of the rest of the game, as the Chargers second string came in to start the final quarter. The team started off on offense and made a good drive, but had to punt the ball away. The defense made the Raiders earn every yard they gained, but a score was allowed in the final minute, and on the resultant kick off return it only took three seconds to run down the clock, and the game was won 41-14. The Chargers will be at home once again next week, as they host the Tri-Center Trojans in quarterfinal action for a chance to head to the UNI-Dome.
