Coach Caden Duncan’s Greene County football team lost 48-6 on Friday night in Monroe to second ranked PCM in the Class 2A Iowa High School Playoffs in the Round of 16. The 10-0 Mustangs advance to the Quarterfinals on Nov. 8 while the Rams end the season with 5 wins and 5 losses.  The points were the most given up this season by the Rams and the margin was the largest of 2024,

The Rams were down 7-0 after one offensive play from scrimmage when senior running back Adrien Robbins ran 79 yards into the end zone and Dominic Witt kicked the extra point. The Rams got to within 7-6 on their first offensive possession on a “hook and ladder” scoring play. Senior quarterback Crew Conner threw a short pass to sophomore wide receiver Trevon Keely who in turn pitched the ball underhanded to senior running back Nicholas Stream who went into the end zone on a play covering 73 yards. The Mustangs scored 41 unanswered points after that. The running clock with a margin of 35 or more points went into effect when the Mustangs built a  41-6 lead with 5:18 left to play in the third quarter.

PCM had three short quarterback sneaks from senior Gavin Van Gorp for scores, a TD pass from Van Gorp to Robbins covering 36 yards and another to Riley Graber that resulted in 51 yards and another score.  Keegan Fenton picked off a pass and went 40 yards with the ball into the end zone for a defensive touchdown.

The Rams had 235 yards of total offense, 170 through the air and 65 on the ground. The Mustangs ran for 201, passed for 180, and totaled 381 yards. Of the PCM total, 309 came in the first half.
