The public is invited to a free Sunday program with the Greene County Historical Society and the new non-profit organization, Friends of Greene County Parks.
According to the Historical Society, at 2pm on Sunday Greene County Conservation Naturalist Jacob Fernholz will be the guest speaker at the Historical Museum in Jefferson. Fernholz says as he is doing various meet and greet events, he is asking everyone for suggestions of conservation, wildlife, or other related subjects for programming.
“This is something that I think is very cool about my position being new. We don’t have programs and events in place that cut and paste, just keep doing them. We have the opportunity to make it what the people want. So again, at these meet and greets, and whenever you see me out and about or anyone else from the Conservation (Board) here in the county, stop, tell us what you want. We’ll be able to provide something.”
The Historical Society is happy to partner with Friends of Greene County Parks as one member, Chris Henning, states that they are going to work with the Greene County Conservation Board and the Director Tanner Scheuermann to support the county’s 25 conservation areas with projects to improve and maintain cleanliness. Free-will donations will be accepted at the end of Sunday’s program to be given to the Friends group.
