One aspect of a fundraiser for a non-profit organization in Jefferson begins tomorrow.
The Jefferson Rotary Club Charity Auction will be held on November 15th, but the online auction starts tomorrow and runs through until the evening of the event. Auction Chair Travis Dvorak says they typically have about 100 items that are up for bid in the online auction with 32auctions.com. He explains that the online auction will close shortly before dinner is served at their event in the Greene Room Events Center at Wild Rose Casino and Resort on November 15th.
Dvorak notes that the live auction usually has about 30 items to bid on, while also having several games and raffles, such as their eight $250 cash raffles and the popular pie auction with those proceeds going specifically to Greene County High School graduating seniors for scholarships.
Dvorak notes that among other causes that the Rotary Club has donated to before, such as the Outdoor Classroom at Greene County Elementary, the Webb House and the Dog Park at the Community Animal Shelter, he mentions this year’s “Fund a Need” is for the Ames-based organization, Bridge Home. He says this group helps get people who are homeless and transition them into a home.
“What we did find out talking to the Bridge Home is there are a lot of people in Greene County who are clients of theirs, who are homeless or about to lose their home. It’s a need that maybe we don’t see, but it’s definitely out there. And so hopefully people will open their pocketbooks and help the people that need help right now.”
Dvorak adds all money for the Bridge Home project will stay in Greene County and help those individuals here. Tickets to the November 15th event can be purchased through the 32auctions website, with the price of $50 per ticket or a table of eight for $400, which includes the meal and the event.
