Republican candidate for Dallas County Auditor Todd Halbur reflects on unofficially winning the contested race, and the qualities he says he is bringing to the table.

Halbur tells Raccoon Valley Radio that his campaign was built on faith, family, and friends. He says he was anxiously waiting for the results and credits the hard work his team did in order to secure the win, as he defeated the Democratic candidate Robert Oller. Halbur, who is a resident of Clive, calls Dallas County an exciting place to “live, work, and play,” and gives a glimpse of the contributions he will provide to residents.

“Just look forward to being apart of the next growth stage of Dallas County, and what that looks like, and just being a leader in county government with election integrity, along with good financial management. And then just also continue to have the office, it’s the hub of county government with a lot of touch points with real estate, and taxes, and finance, and budgets, and election pieces of it as well. Continue to be the office that is open, accountable, and accessible to all Dallas County residents.”

Halbur admires the leadership that Dallas County Auditor Julia Helm has done, specifically with cyber security and technology updates, and he is hoping to address those areas with ongoing discussions. Halbur and his wife have spent the past 22 years in Dallas County raising their children and has been impressed with population growth during that span of time. Halbur remains as the unofficial Dallas County Auditor-Elect until the County Board of Supervisors canvass the votes at their next meeting on Tuesday.
