
The AC/GC Chargers football team have had their season ended.
The Chargers faced off against the Tri-Center Trojans in the quarterfinal round of the 2024 Class A playoffs. Tri-Center started with the ball, and had a quick three and out drive, before punting the ball away. The Chargers also had a three and out drive, and sent the ball back to the Trojans. The first score of the game went to Tri-Center, and a missed opportunity on the two point conversion gave them a 6-0 lead. The Chargers then marched down the field and put one in, making the PAT to go up 7-6. The Trojans punched in another touchdown, again failing on the two point conversion, going up 12-7 going into the second. It didn’t take long though, and AC/GC had their second score, going up 14-12.
Tri-Center scored once more, this time converting on the two point conversion, and the score going into the halftime break showed the Chargers trailing 20-14. The Chargers got the ball to start the second half, and put up a score in the third quarter, failing on the resulting two point conversion. The Trojans put up 13 more points in the third quarter, and the teams went into the final quarter with AC/GC trailing 33-20.
The Chargers were kept out of the endzone for the remainder of the game, and an eight point score plus a scoop and score as time expired gave the Trojans 14 more points to end the game, with AC/GC falling 47-20, ending their push for the UNI-Dome. The Chargers end their season at 10-1.
