With a career spanning over 30+ years of coaching, West Central Valley girls basketball head coach Dan Durivenga is proud of his girls and their drive and efforts during the first practice of the season yesterday morning. With the addition of two-a-days this year, coach expressed how he uses the morning practice to get his girls moving and in basketball shape.

When asked what the focus of practice was today, coach Durivenga explained, “its the typical, early season practice. A lot of fundamentals, a lot of going through stuff in and going back to the basics of dribbling, shooting, passing and so on. Like today we worked a lot on the press and press breaker, but once again you have to do the fundamentals. You gotta be able to pass it up quickly and not just throw it away.”

With time not on their side as the Wildcats have a scrimmage on Tuesday in Atlantic, coach Durivenga believes that the Wildcats will find success if they continue to focus on the fundamentals.
