The Panorama Music Department is seeing lots of success with several students who are going to perform in honor festivals and concerts soon.
Panorama Band Director Aiden Shorey says Madi Huitt auditioned and was selected to play in the 7th Grade Southwest Iowa Band Association Honor Band on Friday, and Zoey Kepple auditioned and was accepted to participate in the Iowa OPUS Honor Choir Festival on November 21st.
Shorey shares the excitement that has been felt in the secondary school.
“We’re over the moon. I mean, this was such a huge, huge, huge leap forward for our department. And hopefully it will inspire a lot of other students to try and do things like that next year as well.”
Shorey mentions that this is the first time in many years that a student will represent Panorama in a festival like this, and that it has really pumped up some members, who have already told him they want to try out for opportunities like this next year. He adds that they have another event coming up as well, which is the West Central Activities Conference Honor Band. Shorey explains that eight individuals, composed of members from both the high school and middle school bands, will travel to Earlham on November 19th.
